Most enthusiasts are aware that tweaking a car's performance is not always an easy task. Let's take the example of BMW cars. There's no doubt that BMW is one of the most trusted brands when it comes to vehicles. What makes the BMW stand out in the crowd is not just its exterior appeal but what lies underneath. The powerful engine is just one of the BMW parts that make these vehicles so special.
IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR BMW
Performance parts play a vital role in tweaking any car's performance. Performance parts are typically grouped into three main categories: Brakes, Drivetrain, and Suspension.
The braking system:
There is a misconception among some people that the measure of a car's performance depends only on its speed. The fact is that controlling the speed of the vehicle to our benefit is the measure of a car's performance. An upgraded braking system can increase your car's performance, safety, and speed but choosing the incorrect components for your application can have the opposite effect. It is therefore beneficial to consult an expert on the vehicle you drive.
For example, operating temperature is an important aspect of the correct function of a braking system. On the street, a wide operating temperature range is important so that your brakes are still effective under any weather condition. On the track, the temperature range is narrower but the temperatures are typically much higher. On the track, the ability to resist fade is critical since when brakes fade, they lose their ability to slow the vehicle effectively.
The suspension:
The suspension system is another important area for increasing the performance of your car. An upgraded system improves the suspension geometry, dampening, and rebound, maximizing the tire's contact patch, thereby increasing tire grip and the limits of your vehicle. Suspension upgrades enable you to brake harder, corner faster, and on corner exit, get back on the throttle sooner. You'll also notice a significant improvement in steering precision and body control.
The heart of the drivetrain - the engine:
Now let us get into the core of a BMW--the engine. Many BMW parts and performance enhancements may be used to increase horsepower and torque. For example, tuning the exhaust system to your car by selecting the correct exhaust diameter, backpressure, crossovers, and header/manifold choices can make a significant difference on the dyno, to your right foot, and to your ear.
Adding other BMW parts including, ignition wires and cold air intakes represent opportunities to further tweak your performance. These parts enable you to get higher volumes of cool, dense air/fuel mixture into the cylinders and ignite it with a clean, ultra-hot spark.
If you are not sure of what to do to improve the performance of your BMW, talk to the experts at allabovemotorwerks.com and find the suitable BMW parts. Install great BMW parts and bring your car to new performance heights.

Preventive maintenance—this is the main reason being cited by the leading oxygen sensor manufacturers why they would advice BMW owners to replace the O2 sensors of their vehicles periodically. A damaged oxygen sensor can greatly increase the fuel consumption of a vehicle. Further, the failure of the BMW oxygen sensor may cause damages on other parts of the vehicle, especially on the catalytic converter which is necessary for emissions control.
An automotive oxygen sensor is a small electronic sensor inserted into the exhaust system of most engine-fueled vehicles, especially on those manufactured after 1980. Vehicles manufactured in the 1980s are usually equipped with one or two oxygen sensors, usually located on the branch manifold before the catalytic converter. This number, however, has been doubled after the introduction of the Onboard Diagnostic II (ODBII), with the added sensors usually placed after the catalytic converter to measure its efficiency. The main function of automotive oxygen sensors is to measure the volume of oxygen remaining on the exhaust gas. The data obtained by the oxygen sensor would then be delivered to the engine management ECU computer. Based on this data, the ECU computer would then adjust the amount of fuel to be delivered to the engine. If the oxygen sensor gets damaged, this function of the ECU computer would be compromised, usually resulting to feeding the engine with more gasoline than what it actually needs. Such richness in the fuel-to-air ratio would also cause the catalytic converter to run hotter than normal, a condition that may lead to the eventual failure of the converter. To prevent such things from happening, oxygen sensor manufacturers advise that oxygen sensors be replaced at regular intervals. For vehicles manufactured prior to the implementation of the OBDII, unheated oxygen sensors must be replaced after every 30,000 to 50,000 miles while heated oxygen sensors after every 60,000 miles. For those vehicles with OBDII (vehicles manufactured in the mid-1990s and newer), the replacement of oxygen sensors is recommended after every 100,000 miles.By replacing the BMW oxygen sensor at the said intervals, BMW owners will be assured that the emission levels and the fuel consumption of their vehicles will be held at the minimum. The power generation of the vehicle's engine is also guaranteed to become more efficient. In an attempt to be of better service to every BMW owner, Auto Parts Corner offers high quality and high performance BMW parts over the Internet. BMW oxygen sensors are among the newest products being offered by this reliable online auto parts supplier, which also offers other high quality auto parts and accessories like speed sensors, harmonic balancers, sound deadeners, billet grilles, AC compressor, and others. And because Auto Parts Corner is available 24-hours over the Internet, BMW owners can be assured of a BMW O2 sensor source whenever it is time to replace the sensors of their vehicle.<!-- From http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/12-7-2005-83356.asp --> <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Will increasing the bore of my air intake and exhaust manifold boost my fuel economy?
I have a six cylinder '98 Ford Ranger, and am debating enlarging its air intake and exhaust manifold which, I'm told, will increase its performance. However, I'm only considering doing it to increase the vehicle's fuel efficiency. I'm getting conflicting answers from self-described mechanics about whether or not doing so will improve mpg, and even those that say it will say the increase will be modest. Still, I'd like to know what the truth is. Anyone wanna take a shot??
Thanks!
Both CAN increase mileage if you tune the engine computer correctly (they make chips / tuners for good mileage). However, is it worth it? If you spend $500 to get 2mpg better (maybe) you'd still paying more because yearly gas bills are probably $3000. $3k x .1 = $300 , thats a 10% saving in fuel economy , which is over what you'd pay normally.
I'd just make sure your tires are inflated.

Needs to have the exhaust system replaced. First problem, part of the exhaust pipe broke off from it's hanger. There was actually a hole, from being rusted out. Most likely due to how little it was driven and the area it was from. I got it welded back on for $20, so far still holding up.
