Coolant Gauge Not Working On 1997 Honda Del Sol Si?

Hello everyone, I just bougth a 1997 Honda Del Sol Si. When I drove it home (60 miles) the coolant temp gauge didn't move at all. I believe the owner before me replaced the radiator. It's not leaking anything from underneath the car. What could be the problem and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance.

There's an electric coolant (water) temperature sensor somewhere on the engine block. It helps the computer (ECU) to determine the status (warmed up or not) of the engine. If the computer thinks that the engine is never warm, it will always run rich and you will get terrible gas mileage.

The repair is fairly simple. On my Audi it didn't even require a tool (it was like changing a light bulb). I think on my civic, it requires simple hand tools (bolt out / bolt in).

It looks like a bolt with wire connector - and it is on the engine block. If you can't find it, just stroll over to your local auto parts dealer and just browse through car repair book specific to your car. My suggestion is to buy a book (Chilton, Haynes, etc.) but if not at least you can get specific info at the store book shelf.
