Install BOV on a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT Spec-B?
My car is stock except for a K&N filter and a Megan Racing CBE + catless downpipe.I also have a Cobb Accessport for it. The sound from a BOV is cool and all, but if it will not benefit me, I am cool with living without it and saving $.Also, any suggestions on next upgrade(s)?
It really depends on your driving style and if you track the car. The BOV will vent the air that used to be routed back to the intake, the computer will still think it's getting that air and increase fuel flow for a split second. Without the air, you run very rich between shifts. Now some say this can damage your motor and some say it's not enough to do much damage. I think if it's a street car, you are fine but do you really want to risk it? If you want a little more sound, you can either remove the silencer in the fender of change to an aftermarket intake and you will hear the sound quite a bit more. There will be no benefit to run an aftermarket BOV until you are pushing over 20lbs of boost with an upgraded turbo. The stock one does it's job very well till then.
As far as the next step, I would get a Protune done. It will make quite a difference. But if you are getting a tune done, I would think about an upgraded intercooler and maybe a turbo inlet. But I think I would work on suspension before more power if you haven't done any yet. The Bilstein system on the Spec-B is very good but can be made much better.
