Wrapping headers and down pipes is an important first step in controlling unwanted underhood radiant heat. Keeping exhaust gases hotter within the exhaust system helps in decreasing exhaust density and increases exhaust flow. This improves exhaust scavenging resulting in cooler air intake temperatures for an improvement in performance and a gain in horsepower. Design Engineering stainless steel Locking Ties are the perfect way to fasten exhaust wrap for a easy, clean and professional installation. |

Men love all kinds of vehicles. Everything that moves fast and can be ridden on are macho images, from racing cars to trucks, and from ships to airplanes. These are the toys of the big boys. But for those who can't get enough of the need for more speed, Traxxas' radio-controlled toys may quench that thirst. A Texas-based hobby company, it is the creator, designer and manufacturer of radio-controlled trucks, cars and boats. It has products for both electric and nitro categories. The following is an overview of Traxxas' radio-controlled truck named Rustler.
In the world of small but terrible toys for the big boys, Traxxas Rustler is a force to reckon with. It must not be underestimated because it can deliver a high, pro-level racing performance, and yet very easy-to-maintain and durable. Though it is not really as powerful as the Traxxas Jato or Traxxas Revo, the Traxxas Rustler is still a strong radio-controlled truck enough for a starting RC hobbyist. Ready-to-run and only costs about half of most competition-only stadium race toys, one can expect awesome lots of fun because of the Rustler's durability and high performance.
As for the exteriors, this radio-controlled truck plainly says that it isn't all about the looks. It has a bright orange color, and is available with different color schemes, like faded white, blue, purple or black, in the rear. The Traxxas Rustler's body is fully trimmed and finished with ProGraphix. This unique body-painting produces crisp coloring, smooth fades, clean lines and an overall very professional graphic design. As for the wheels, this radio-controlled truck uses shiny TRX ProStar chrome wheels which definitely adds to rugged, mountain-trekking look of the Traxxas Rustler.
Yes, this truck plainly says it isn't all about the looks. Because it gives a better-than-average performance compared to most radio-controlled trucks; what with its TRX 2.5 racing engine under the hood. Though generally it is weaker than the TRX 3.3 engine when it comes to horsepower, still the Traxxas Rustler should not be underestimated. It runs with a race-tested Magnum 272 transmission. This radio-controlled truck's additional standard features are its double deck T6 aluminum and composite chassis, tune pipe exhaust system, adjustable easy-to-change gear ratios, extra long fibre-composite suspension arms and excellent disc brakes. The Traxxas Rustler also has stainless steel bearings, 48-pitch gears and a low-maintenance planetary-gear differential. Aside from that it also has bell-crank steering, live front axles and centered kingpins.
But what gives Traxxas Rustler an edge among consumer markets is that, unlike the higher end Traxxas Revo and Traxxas Jato, it is also available in electric version. Nitro-powered radio-controlled trucks usually costs high and requires high-maintenance. For RC hobbyists who don't want to be burdened yet thirst for a high pro-level performance, the Traxxas Rustler is a perfect orange road monster. It has all that good looks, handling and style for an affordable price.

The Best Out of an Exhausted System
Most of the motorists these days have one thing in common and that is the manifest disregard to some auto parts like the exhaust system. If you are to ask motorists when they inspect the system, you would probably get same reply. The most common occasion when they do such a task is when they are already hearing obvious noise. With that situation, the vehicles are likely to end up in the hands of a franchised exhaust specialist.
Auto exhaust parts experts suggest that motorists should inspect the system whenever it is on the lift for routine service. According to them, it makes perfect sense considering the expense of some of the parts like sensors, mufflers, catalytic converters and others.
Basically, an exhaust system transports burnt gases from the internal combustion engine. Exhaust parts accessories are mainly composed of pipes that vent waste gases. These gases may stream through a turbo charger to boost power, a catalytic converter to diminish air pollution, and a muffler to minimize noise. Clamps as well as bolted and welded connections and hangers hold the system together. So, in inspecting the whole system, motorists should look for snapped bolts, cracked welds, rusted joints, leaks and other deteriorated parts.
Experts added that rubber in the hangers like the doughnut-shaped bands used in hanging pipes should also be inspected. Car aftermarket parts exhaust is always under stress much more than the original equipment hangers. Moreover, it is recommended to select an aftermarket design that is not similarly shaped with the original hanger when replacing the latter. Another consideration is to be certain that installation can be had without twisting or aggravating the stress of the system. There is wide latitude of aftermarket exhausts available in auto parts dealers. Hence, it is definitely possible to hang the system sophisticated aftermarket parts.
In employing a lot of tensions to the auto exhaust system to make connections, there is a tendency that its parts could foul the body. The occurrence of which could produce repulsive noise and detrimental damage. In fact, it could even lead to eventual separation.
Some vehicle owners think that clamps that secure the catalytic converter and other sections are costly like the U-bolts used somewhere else in the system. The truth, according to auto parts dealers, is the exact opposite. The thick pipe ends on the converter need clamps that can withstand anywhere from 30 ft-lb of torque at the low end to more than 60 ft-lb at the high end. Moreover, when the original equipment clamp is a high strength type with a welded saddle and hardened nuts, experts advise the use an aftermarket equivalent for replacement.
The exhaust manifold joints that link to the pipes of the system or the fast light-off catalysts are other problem areas. A sealing ring found in the joint with the pipe could be noisy when there are leaks. Said joint gets a lot of pressure from engine's vibration. Despite the presence of spring-loaded bolting setup to maintain tension, it does not serve a lifetime setup. Coil springs could break and joint loosen hence; the system is always at risk.
To maximize the efficiency of the exhaust parts, vehicle owners should choose meticulously engineered exhaust system. In addition, the quality exhaust should be coupled with maintenance and regular inspection to preclude unnecessary expenditure in the future.

why does my exhaust pipe have a ring shaped brownish rusty looking area around it?
This exhaust pipe is fairly new. I just bought it 8 or 9 months ago. Is this normal?
optional: is it normal for new exhaust pipes to make noises while accelerating?
A good deal of the exhaust you see is water vapour - steam, from running a cold engine, from incorrect fuel or from having too lean a burn. This water vapour is causing corrosion to the pipework which is only cheap steel anyway. Get you engine re-tuned and find out if you are using the correct octane fuel for the engine. You may need to get the exhaust system replaced soon.
Fisher leaves Brunner behind
While Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher was buying $900,000 worth of TV air time this month, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner was spending $862 for a new exhaust pipe for the converted school bus she is using for her "grassroots" campaign.
