Here are some more information for Headers Mustang:

The camaro came out in 1967 to do battle against the mustang, which already had a head start by being introduced in 1964, as a spring off from the falcon, it was basically just a falcon with a new look, but the idea to upgrade a platform that they already had was pure genius, laying that aside, let's talk about the camaro, when it came out Chevrolet was looking for the perfect combination to beat down the mustang, and they hit the nail on the head, a lot of the top Chevrolet dealers took the camaro under their wing, and really made it show it's potential in the muscle car world.
The Z/28 camaro was brought out to do battle on the "SCCA" circuit or sports car club of America, and it was going to set some records during it's time in the SCCA, the camaro's arch enemy on the street and the track, has always been the mustang. The SCCA'S Trans Am series has especially magnified that rivalry, Ford took the championship in 1967 and 1970, Chevy dominated in 1968 and 1969, the driver for Chevrolet Mark Donohue had a stellar racing career, that included 29 career Trans Am victories, 3 championships, and a victory in the 1972 Indianapolis 500, he died in an on track accident in 1975.
The 302 cubic inch engine was added to Chevrolet's line up, to meet the rules of the SCCA Trans Am series, which stated that your engine could be no larger then 305 cubic inches, the 302 became a mainstay for the Z/28 camaro, which had an option for a 350 CID engine, but the 302 had made a name for itself, in the collector circles, it's the most sought after engine for the Z/28, a 302 with the cross ram option is worth a lot more cash the a standard 302 with a single four bar manifold, and when you add options like the JL8 four wheel disc brakes the price jumps to incredible proportions.
Then the high production Chevrolet dealers like Yenko Chevrolet, Bladwin Chevrolet, and Nicky Chevrolet would get a hold of these cars and turn them in to a monster, Yenko would create a beast called the "sYc" or Super Yenko Camaro, this car was set to amazing things on the drag strip, Yenko Chevrolet would contract Dick Herrel to drive this beast "Tricky Dick Herrel" as he was known by the racing world, Dick would power this car to a standing quarter mile time of 11.904 @ 115 MPH.
Standing 1/4 Mile Time
* 11.904 @ 115 MPH
0-60 Performance
* 3.8 Seconds
0-100
* 8.9 Seconds
Engine
* 427 CID 425 HP
Price
* $3,895
Transmission
* Muncie M-22 Rock Crusher 4 Speed
The sYc camaro would spawn the worlds fastest quarter mile car for that time era, this car was called the COPO 9560 or the ZL1 camaro, this car would come from the factory with an all aluminum 427 CID engine that was factory rated at 425 HP, but the car was consistently running 11.05's. That means that you've got about 534.68 HP at the rear wheels, and about 695.08 HP at the flywheel, these were documented quarter mile runs, so I'm not just blowing up the truth, The ZL1 Camaro would prove to be an amazing race car, not to mention, it was still a street car also, in street dress Dick Herrel would achieve 1/4 mile times of 11.05 and in full race mode, with the headers uncorked and slicks added he would achieve a 10.35 1/4 mile time on his first run.
So for all of you Chevrolet nay Sayers, there you go.
Tell me of another car that can boast those numbers from the factory.
I've been in the automotive business for about 20 or 25 years, I have worked in all facets of the industry, from parts to restoration, all different makes and models, I just want to keep people interested in the old cars because it's where my heart is.
Your Mustang And Aftermarket Auto Parts
If you are like me, you went out and purchased your new Mustang because you wanted it. Plain and simple, you saw it and wanted it so you purchased it. Then your driving down the road and you see the same exact Mustang that you purchased next to you. Wow, what a blow huh. Well with a little imagination and a bit of cash you can be different. You should think about purchasing some aftermarket auto parts. This can set you apart from the rest. A little imagination, your own personality, a little work and your Mustang can be different. There are several aftermarket auto parts for the Mustang these days. Really there are an endless amount of items.
There are a lot of things you can do to tailor your car to your own personality. Maybe you can start by adding some interior accessories. Billet accessories are a great way to enhance the look. Start out with a few items such as dash control knobs, door locks, door handles, running boards. These are always a good place to start, because you can see the results quickly. Then you can move onto exterior accessories like Matrix headlamps, tinted or clear taillights. These are all items you can install very easily and will set you apart from all the other models like yours.
I have always said a nice set of aftermarket wheels are always a great way to express you taste, and all you need to do is purchase them and have them mounted. Also a nice set of tires to go with. Remember to purchase a set of tires that will mount on your wheels, as well as being correct for your type of driving conditions. I normally recommend that you keep you stock rims and tires for the winter months if you drive it year round and live in the north. Then you can look into some aftermarket suspension. Always looks nice to lower it a little. Gives you that great handling and a nice look.
Now here is the part where you may want to have some aftermarket performance add-ons. This is where you enjoy the excitement when you hit the gas pedal. Items such as cat back exhaust systems, headers, cold air intakes, computer chips and even a supercharger. There are a lot of manufacturers that make superchargers that mount directly to you engine and with a little computer programming, and a few items included in the kit, you are whistling down the road. And you can still use it as a daily driver. But you may even think about taking it to the drag strip to see what kind times you can run with it in the quarter mile.
There are a lot of aftermarket auto parts you can purchase and install on your own. A little homework before you start the project and you are good to go. Also a lot of suppliers have detailed instructions on the how to. I find it very satisfying to do the work myself. You get the feeling that you did it all! And it is always a good conversation piece. Although, if you have not attempted anything like this before, I always recommend a professional to do the install.
If you need an idea of where to start or what to do as for aftermarket auto parts, there is an endless amount of tech forums out there for you to explore. Also attend car shows at your local soda shop. Most car show people are willing to share their stories. Go out and get some Mustang aftermarket auto parts today and get going. You can't go wrong here. Believe me, you will enjoy the benefits of doing so.

Mustang Aftermarket Autoparts
I have a 2000 Mustang GT with cold air intake headers and 4.10 gears on a 99 cobra block. Best next upgrade?
Preferably under $1000. Thanks for your help.
DEPENDS ON YOUR LONG TERM GOALS FOR YOUR GT:
-if you are going to keep the car naturally aspirated, but still build the engine (ie a high power stroker motor):
-in no particular order you will need:
top end:
mild race cams
performance heads
bottom end
stroker kit - forged performance crank, HIGH compression
forged pistons, rods, rod bearings and performance rings
then in due course, performance manifold, fuel rails/pump
and injectors.
BUT........
better option for the 4.6 modular block may be - keep the engine's internals stock (and keep the car with bolt on installations only - eventually do a mild boost supercharger or a short spray of nitrous....) and if go this way then I recommend:
in this order:
-performance exhaust , catbacks and x-pipe (bassani, magnaflow, borla, flowmasters, slp or mac)
-75 mm throttle body
-tuner chip, diablo predator or equivalent
-short throw shift
with your headers, exhaust, CAI, throttle body....and a re-tune of the engine management system you will have a performance gain perhaps 17% over stock.....and with the big gears in the rear end and a short throw, you will be seriously quick.
if you want to go further from here - with these installations you are set to bolt on a supercharger, to take you into the range of 400hp with a mild boost.
