A little care will keep the battery charged in the cold times as well as the warmest.
Here 's how:
1. Calculate the battery age. If your battery is older than five years you need to replace it.
2. Go to a mechanic to do a battery load test. It tests if the set is able of generating enough power in the days with negative temperatures. If you fail the test, replace it.
3. Use a chain brush soaked with soda and distillate water to clean and to ensure that dirt do not prevent passage of the electric current.
4. Check battery fluid level. Normal batteries can do this by removing the plastic cap and looking like liquid will be up top. Batteries that do not require maintenance are usually an indicator that turns off when they need service; these types of batteries go to a mechanic.
5. Check tightening cables. A weak link does not allow the car to start and give the impression of a battery discharged. If you move the cables that are connected to the battery terminals then they must be reinforced.
6. Check the battery if it is fixed in the right position. A battery that can move can cause harm if it overturns. Extreme shaking will shorten the battery 's life.
7. Consider buying a battery or engine radiator if you stay in an area with very cold climates, the radiator can shrink the current required to start the car.
Tips
* In extreme times, the battery may need to recharge from a rectifier.
* It is possible that your car will not start because the alternator or the electric motor.
Notice!
* An inadequate recharge of the battery can lead to burn other accessories.
* Keep the battery away from open fires - it contains flammable chemicals.

1999 Suzuki Grand vitara - does it have timing belt or chain?
I have a 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara, four wheel drive model 2 litre not the V6.
I am getting the major 200,000km service done and am wondering if it has a timing belt or a timing chain? If it's a chain I obviously don't need to replace it so the cost drops significantly.
Does anyone know?
It takes a timing belt that is changed every 60K miles.
