I needed to move my Ford F-150 Lightning from Texas to San Diego. So I called Direct Auto Movers and this is what happened.

First of all, I've been a shipping manager for over 6 years, so I have experience with various different shipping companies. Most have been LTL, though. When I needed to move my truck I called my broker and he recommended Direct Auto Movers since he doesn't deal with auto moving. So I called them up and talked to Bryan.

It didn't take long for Bryan to get me a quote and then by my surprise my truck was actually picked up the next day. We scheduled a time for it to get picked up and the driver was there almost exactly on time. He told me 2:00 and that's when it was. So far so good.

I was flying in to San Diego three days later and I needed to have my truck as soon as I got there. I told him when my flight landed and we scheduled to meet up 2 hours later just in case there were any delays. Again, he was right on time. I took a taxi to meet up at the parking lot and he started unloading the truck as soon as I arrived. It took him about 15 minutes to do that.

Again, being a shipping manager, I've had way to much experience with damaged shipments and I was a little worried about dents or scratches. I looked over the truck and thank goodness, there were no scratches at all. Just a little bird poop. So I got it washed.

I wanted to write this review because Bryan was so helpful and courteous and I got my truck moved without any problems at all. I would definitely recommend Direct Auto Movers to anyone needing to move their car. I don't think they were the cheapest, but definitely worth the price I paid.

Annoying Water Spots? Water Removal Procedures For Cars

Most of us use hard water when washing our vehicles. Even our friendly neighborhood car wash uses hard water. But the local water supply contains minerals that can etch into windshields and windows, leaving residual spots that can obscure your line of sight and ruin your sparkling paint coat.

Drying your car completely can minimize the need for water removal. Even after exiting a car wash dryer, take the time to wipe off water spots from the surface, windows, and tire rims.

If your car is frequently exposed to garden sprinklers, then hard water spots are inevitable. The first step to hard water removal is spotting the spot! Even on light-colored cars these water spots are easy to catch. If you don't remove them quickly, they can leave permanent dents on your car finish.

It is best to deal with them late in the afternoon, when the temperature is cooler. Or move your vehicle to a shaded area and let the surface cool down before attempting to do any water removal procedure. If your car surface is too hot, these water spots can be tough to eliminate and the minerals you want to eradicate will instead bore deeper into your paint.

The best home remedy for hard water removal is white vinegar. Combine water and vinegar in equal amounts in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the car body and wipe it off with a soft, clean cloth. Vinegar can take away the gloss in your finish, so always have a tub of wax ready.

If you prefer a quick-fix and don't mind spending on it, car detailing shops offer lubricants and polishes specially developed for hard water removal. These products remove surface contaminants while polishing your car without leaving swirl marks.

To remove hard water spots on window glass, use a very fine grade of steel wool. Rub away the stains but be very careful not to damage the glass.

Flood water removal can be a bigger headache for car owners. Damage from flood waters can range from fogging inside headlamps or tail lights, to damp or muddy carpets and upholstery, to overhangs inside the wheel well.

Water can wreak havoc on electronic parts and removing silt from car interiors is no easy task. Sometimes water removal requires tearing the car apart piece-by-piece, cleaning it, disinfecting it, and putting it back together.

Consider this check list when doing flood water removal:

1. Check the engine oil and gas tank

2. Change oil if necessary

3. If the engine does not start, take out the spark plugs and remove water from the cylinders

4. Dry out the ignition system

5. Check all lights for trapped moisture

6. Check the glove compartment, console and trunk

7. Look under the hood and seats for water, dirt or rust

8. Check the exterior for crash damage

Clean and disinfect flood-damaged cars with a hot-pressure washer. Use air blowers and dehumidifiers to dry out the upholstery. Wet vacuum cleaners can be effective tools in flood water removal. Lastly, disinfect everything that has been soaked under the flood waterline.
