i recently cut my exhaust off right before the muffler it is about three foot from the headers and i am worrie?

d that it may hurt my engine but also what are the benefits if any...
ok the jackoff that said its ok also said i had it cut far enough back that it would not burn the valves also when i got the truck not cat on it ..............how can i keep the sound without the engine wear
